Physical Accessibility – Faith Lutheran Church is a one story building, making it accessible for members with a wheelchair. The front door does not have an automatic door however, there is a doorbell on the door frame and a greeter is by the door on Sunday mornings before worship. The rest of the building, including the bathrooms, is accessible.
Special Needs Programming – Students with special needs are mainstreamed in Sunday School and Confirmation classes. However, if there is a desire for separate, specialized education, Faith tries to work with parents on that. For example, in 2007 three developmentally disabled young men had a special six-week confirmation study and were then confirmed with other students who had just completed a three year confirmation study.
Capernaum Greater Minneapolis is a Young Life fellowship group for youth with disabilities. It is a metro-wide group that meets in Edina. The Young Life group also provides opportunities for people with disabilities to attend church camp and mission trips. Faith has had youth members participate in this group, and one of our adult members has been on their leadership committee.
